Artist Bio

I am a Russian artist based in Oxford.  I work in oil and pastels to create a vibrant multi-layered effect.  My subjects range fromortraiture to landscape and still lifes.  The great fun about painting ordinary things is to re-view an object that one might have seen a dozen of times, and to realise that it holds the seed of work of art.  The process leads through many discoveries.  The artist rarely knows what the result will be as I work in layers to create the finished painting.  I am often surprised by the outcome as I apply paint, scratch the surface then add another layer.   After all, it is an enjoyable puzzle – the endless series of tasks exploring lines, shapes, colours, textures and edges.
